A cover letter is a one-page letter that accompanies an invoice. It shares the sender and recipient with the invoice and is kept as its own document, linked to the invoice.

## Add a cover letter from the invoice

1. Open the invoice in the editor.
2. In the right panel, switch on **Cover letter**.
3. A letter page appears above the invoice. Fill in the place and date, subject, body, closing and signature.
4. Click **Save**. The letter is stored with the invoice. It is not part of the invoice PDF or the invoice email: download or send it from **Documents → Cover letters**.

## Add a cover letter from the list

1. Go to **Documents** → **Cover Letters** → **New cover letter**.
2. Pick the invoice the letter is for. Only invoices without a cover letter are offered; search by number or buyer.
3. The invoice editor opens with the cover letter page enabled. Write the letter and click **Save**.

## Work with the list

The **Cover Letters** list shows the letter number, the invoice, the recipient, the subject, the date and the status. Click a row to open the invoice. The row menu offers:

- **Open invoice**
- **Download PDF**
- **Send by email** (adds a row to the delivery log)
- **Delete**: removes the letter page only; the invoice is kept.

## Good to know

- One cover letter per invoice.
- Letter numbers come from their own series; the invoice number is shown next to it.
- If the PDF service is not configured on your environment, **Download PDF** opens a printable version in a new tab instead.
- Members who can create invoices can create and send letters; delete needs the delete permission.
