# Simulate received invoices (Test mode)

> Receive generated supplier invoices through the real Peppol pipeline to try validation, review, payment and the VAT return without Taxilla.

While your e-invoicing connection is in **Test (simulated)** mode, Alya Books can play the role of your suppliers. It generates PINT AE supplier invoices and receives them exactly as a Peppol delivery through Taxilla would arrive: validation against the UAE rules, the buyer TRN check, duplicate detection, the supplier contact, notifications and webhooks. Nothing leaves Alya Books and nothing is reported to the FTA.

## Simulate a delivery

1. Go to **Incoming Invoices** and click **Simulate received invoice**. (In UAT or Live mode the button is **Fetch from Peppol** instead.)
2. Pick a scenario:

| Scenario | What arrives | Expected result |
|---|---|---|
| Standard tax invoice | Two lines at 5 % VAT, with a delivery address and the supplier's bank details (IBAN, BIC, account owner) | Validated, **To review** |
| Standard invoice with supplier PDF | As above, with the supplier's PDF embedded in the XML | Validated; the review page opens on **Supplier copy** |
| Mixed VAT categories | Standard, zero-rated and exempt lines, each with its exemption reason | Validated |
| Domestic reverse charge | Electronics wholesale in category AE; you account for the VAT | Validated, VAT 0 on the invoice |
| Credit note | A credit (381) referencing the last invoice from the same supplier | Validated |
| Invoice in USD | Document currency USD | Validated |
| Wrong buyer TRN | Addressed to another company | Fails validation (buyer TRN) |
| Totals that do not add up | Total differs from lines plus VAT | Fails validation (BT-112) |
| Duplicate of the last invoice | The previous number from the same supplier again | Import rejected as a duplicate |

3. Choose a supplier: a sample supplier that fits the scenario, one of the four sample UAE suppliers, or **one of your own contacts** (type supplier, with a TRN).
4. Choose how many documents (1–5) and click **Receive**.

The dialog lists each document with its result and a link to open it. The documents appear in the invoice list and in the **Import log** with the channel **peppol**, and the notification bell shows them.

## What to try next

- Open a validated invoice, check the lines and **Accept** it, then record a payment or match it on the **Bank** page.
- Open a failed import in the **Import log** to see the validation report.
- Run the VAT return for the current period: accepted simulated invoices count in the input VAT boxes like real ones.

## Good to know

- Only owners, admins and accountants can simulate.
- Invoice numbers continue per supplier (for example `GOS-2027-0003`), so a duplicate scenario always repeats the previous one.
- Simulated documents say so in their notes. Archive or delete them before you switch to Live.
- Integrators can do the same through the API (`POST /incoming/simulate`), the MCP tool `simulate_incoming_invoice` or `alyabooks import simulate`.
