# Archive and unarchive invoices

> Move finished or unwanted documents out of the working lists without deleting them, and bring them back when needed.

Source: /help/en/invoices/archive-invoices

Archiving hides a document from the working lists, the dashboard and reports while keeping it available under the **Archived** view. Use it for settled invoices, abandoned drafts or documents that should no longer appear in day-to-day work.

## Archive

- One invoice from the list: on **Invoices**, open the row menu (**⋯**) and choose **Archive**.
- Several invoices: tick the rows, click **Archive** in the selection bar, add an optional note (for example the reason), and confirm.
- From the invoice page: click **Archive** in the header.

## Find and restore

1. On **Invoices**, click the **Archived** chip. Archived rows appear greyed out and the invoice header shows an **Archived** badge.
2. Open the row menu (**⋯**) and choose **Unarchive**, or tick several rows and click **Unarchive** in the selection bar.
3. The document returns to the default views.

Good to know:

- Archiving does not change the e-invoice and is allowed at any status, including locked (issued) invoices.
- Archived documents cannot be submitted to Taxilla. Unarchive first.
- Archived and test documents are excluded from the invoice list statistics, the dashboard, **Analytics** and **Compliance**.
- An archived invoice is never treated as overdue, so it will not trigger reminders or the daily overdue notification.
- Archiving is not deletion: the document, its submissions and payments stay intact. Only Draft and Rejected invoices can be deleted.
- Owners, admins and accountants can archive and unarchive. Through the API, `archived: true` on an invoice does the same.
