# How Alya Books follows the UAE e-invoicing rules

> What Alya Books checks and sends so your e-invoices meet PINT AE, the Ministry of Finance guidelines and Taxilla's requirements, and where to see each part.

Every e-invoice that leaves Alya Books is built to the UAE's PINT AE specification, follows the Ministry of Finance's Electronic Invoicing Guidelines, and is checked against the 302 official validation rules before it goes to Taxilla. This article shows what that means in practice and where each part lives in the app.

## What is checked before an invoice leaves

1. **Codes.** Every picker (document kind, VAT category, unit, currency, country, payment method and more) offers only codes the UAE profile accepts. You choose which of them your company uses under **Settings → Codes & regions**.
2. **Fields.** The fields PINT AE requires are always there. Ticking a transaction type (free zone, deemed supply, exports, and so on) brings up the fields its rules need. Optional references are under **Fields** in the invoice editor.
3. **Rules.** **Validate & save** runs the checks and lists every finding with its rule number, a plain-language explanation and the way to fix it. Errors block the invoice; warnings explain what will be sent. Clicking a rule number opens its explanation in **PINT AE Reference**.
4. **The e-invoice itself.** Values the rules forbid in a case are left out automatically, and the report says so: a due date on a deemed supply, a date of supply after the issue date, an invoice reference on a volume discount credit note.
5. **Sending.** **Submit to Taxilla** checks the invoice once more on the server. If your company details or the customer changed since it was validated and it no longer passes, it is not sent and returns to **Draft** with the findings.

## What the guidelines ask for, and how Alya Books does it

| Guideline | In Alya Books |
|---|---|
| Six document categories (tax invoice, credit note, commercial invoice and its credit note, self-billed invoice and credit note) | **Document kind** in the editor; self-billing is switched on under **Settings → Codes & regions** |
| Eight transaction scenarios | **Transaction type** in the editor; several can be ticked together |
| Six VAT categories, including the profit margin scheme and the reverse charge | The VAT category on each line; reverse-charge lines ask for the goods type |
| Buyers not yet on the network | The predefined buyer addresses are filled in for you (deemed supplies, exports, buyers without a Peppol ID or TRN) |
| Businesses not registered for VAT | Switch off **Registered for VAT with the FTA** under **Settings → Company profile**; the company then issues out-of-scope invoices identified by its TIN |
| VAT and totals in AED on every invoice, Central Bank rates for other currencies | Filled in automatically; see [Payment methods and other currencies](/help/en/invoices/payment-methods-and-currencies) |
| Advance payments and rounding | **+ Paid in advance or rounding** below the totals |
| Several invoices corrected by one credit note; credit note reasons from the FTA list | The correction panel of a credit note |
| Trade licence, Emirates ID, passport or cabinet decision as legal registration | **Settings → Company profile** and the customer form |

## Where to see it

| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Every rule with its explanation in English and Arabic, every field, code list and transaction type | Sidebar → **PINT AE Reference** |
| The checks on one invoice | Open the invoice → **Validate & save** |
| The checks across all your invoices | Sidebar → **Compliance** |
| The XML that will be sent | Invoice → **Preview** → XML |
| The codes your company uses | **Settings → Codes & regions** |
| Stricter checking (warnings block issuing too) | **Settings → E-invoicing → Validation strictness** |

## Good to know

- Fields PINT AE allows but no rule requires, such as a third address line, the party a delivery goes to, or item attributes, exist but are switched off. Alya Books support switches a group on for your company when you need it; see [Optional e-invoice fields](/help/en/settings/optional-e-invoice-fields).
- Payment methods: every official code is valid on UAE e-invoices. Codes Taxilla does not accept yet are marked **Not accepted by Taxilla yet** and stop an invoice at validation until Alya Books support lifts the limit for your company.
- A customer outside the UAE states its own country's VAT number; the 15-digit TRN format applies to UAE customers.
- The public page `/reference` shows the same rules, fields and codes without signing in, and `/tools` has small checkers for TRNs, Peppol IDs, transaction type codes, mandate dates, IBANs and XML files.
