# What to do when sending fails or is skipped

> Fix the common reasons an email delivery shows failed, bounced or skipped, and get the document to the buyer anyway.

Source: /help/en/settings/failed-delivery

When an email cannot go out, the **Deliveries** card on the document shows a red **failed** or **bounced** badge, or an amber **skipped** badge, with a note explaining why. The document itself is unaffected: an issued invoice stays issued.

## Steps

1. Open the document and read the row in **Deliveries**. The note under it names the cause.
2. Fix the cause:
- **skipped** with "No email provider configured": the platform's email service is not active for your environment. Nothing was sent. Contact support@alyabooks.ai; meanwhile download the PDF and XML and send them from your own mailbox.
- **failed** with an address error: the **To** address was invalid. Correct the email on the contact under **Contacts → Edit → Additional** and resend.
- **bounced**: the recipient's mail server rejected the address. Confirm the address with the buyer.
- A toast "400" when clicking **Send**: the address was rejected before sending; no delivery row is created. Check for typos or missing `@`.
3. Click **Resend** in the **Deliveries** card. A new row is added; the old one stays for the record.
4. If you delivered the document another way, click **Record manual delivery** and note where it went.

## Good to know

- A skipped or failed email never blocks FTA reporting. **Submit to Taxilla** is a separate step with its own status on the invoice.
- Rejections by Taxilla, the buyer's access point or the FTA are shown on the invoice status, not in the email log; correct the data and resubmit, or issue a credit note if the invoice was already reported.
- Invoices, credit notes, debit notes and proformas always carry their PDF. For quotes, letters and reminders the PDF is skipped when the PDF service is unavailable; the XML still goes out. The row's attachment list shows what was included.
- Own SMTP settings do not change the outcome yet; emails use the platform provider.
