What is checked
The country code, the length that country uses, the structure of the account part, and the two check digits (the ISO 13616 mod-97 test). A UAE IBAN has 23 characters and starts with AE.
A valid IBAN is well formed. The tool cannot tell whether the account exists or who owns it.
Why it matters on an e-invoice
When the payment method of a UAE e-invoice is a credit transfer, the invoice must state the account to pay into. A mistyped IBAN delays payment, so check it before the invoice goes out.
Common questions
- How long is a UAE IBAN?
- 23 characters: AE, two check digits, a three-digit bank code and a 16-digit account number.
- Does a valid result mean the account exists?
- No. It means the IBAN is well formed and its check digits match. Only the bank can confirm the account.
- Is the IBAN I type sent anywhere?
- No. The check runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to us.
