How the code works

Every UAE e-invoice carries an invoice transaction type code of eight digits, each 0 or 1. Each position stands for one type, in this order: free trade zone, deemed supply, profit margin scheme, summary invoice, continuous supply, disclosed agent billing, supply through e-commerce, exports.

A standard tax invoice is 00000000. Several types can apply at once: a free zone export is 10000001.

What each type also requires

Free trade zone: the beneficiary's TRN or TIN; when the beneficiary is the buyer, the buyer's identifier is used.

Deemed supply: the buyer address is the predefined 0235:9900000097, and the invoice has no due date and needs no payment method.

Profit margin scheme: every line uses the VAT category for the margin scheme, with the rate stated and no VAT amount shown.

Summary invoice: the invoicing period. Continuous supply: the invoicing period, and where it fits, the frequency of billing.

Disclosed agent billing: the principal's TRN, which cannot be the seller's own.

Supply through e-commerce: the delivery address with street, city and emirate. Exports: the delivery address outside the UAE with its state or region.

Common questions

Where does the code go in the XML?
In the element cbc:ProfileExecutionID of the invoice or credit note.
Can an invoice have more than one transaction type?
Yes. Each type has its own position, so any combination is one code. The requirements of every ticked type then apply together.
Which types cannot be used on an out-of-scope invoice?
Summary invoice, deemed supply and profit margin scheme cannot be used on an out-of-scope invoice or its credit note.
