Import from Tally
Export sales vouchers from Tally as XML and import them into Alya Books.
Tally does not connect over the internet, so Alya Books imports the XML file that Tally exports. Sales vouchers become draft invoices, and the parties on them become contacts.
Export from Tally
- Open Tally → Gateway of Tally → Display → Daybook.
- Press Alt+E to export.
- Choose the format XML. Filter to sales vouchers if you want only those.
- Save the file.
Import into Alya Books
- Go to Connectors and click Import XML on the Tally card. (The same import is on Import Data → Tally XML Export → Start Import.)
- Choose the
.xmlfile or drag it into the dialog. - Start the import. The result shows how many vouchers were imported, skipped and failed, and the run is added to the card's Sync history.
What Alya Books reads from a voucher
| Tally field | Alya Books |
|---|---|
| Voucher number and date | Invoice number and issue date |
| Party name, GSTIN/TRN, address lines | Buyer contact (created if it does not exist), with TRN and address |
| Reference | Order reference |
| Effective date | Due date |
| Inventory entries (item, quantity with unit, rate) | Invoice lines |
| Ledger entries | Single-line invoice when there are no inventory entries; ledgers named VAT or tax set the 5 % rate |
| Narration | Notes |
Negative amounts, which Tally uses for sales, are imported as positive values.
Good to know
- A voucher is identified by number and date, so importing the same file twice does not create duplicates.
- Imported invoices are drafts: open each one, check the VAT category and buyer TRN, then Validate and submit.
- The Field mapping panel on the Tally card shows which PINT AE fields the import fills and which you complete in Settings or Contacts.
- The card also offers Connect Tally with a server URL and company name for a future direct connection; today the XML upload is the working route.
