    Payment terms and due date

Set the due date with a preset, write the payment terms text, add early-payment discounts and choose the bank account shown on the invoice.

The due date (BT-9) drives overdue detection and reminders. The payment block below the totals holds the payment method, terms text, optional discount tiers and the bank account printed on the document.

    1. In the meta block, pick a preset next to Due date: Due on receipt, Net 7, Net 14, Net 30, Net 45, Net 60, Net 90, or Custom to type any date. The due date fills in automatically from the issue date plus the payment terms (Net N) and follows when you change either. A new invoice starts from your organization's default payment terms. A due date you type by hand is kept.
    2. In the payment block, choose the Payment method (BT-81), for example Bank transfer or Cash.
    3. Type the Payment terms text (BT-20), or pick a saved preset with the chevron next to the field. The placeholder shows the default sentence based on the days chosen.
    4. Optional: enable Early payment discount in Fields and add up to three tiers, each as a percentage if paid within a number of days.
    5. The bank account from Settings → Bank Details is shown by default. To use a different account on this document, enable Different bank account in Fields and enter the IBAN, account name and SWIFT/BIC.

    Good to know:

    • When you pick a contact, the contact's default payment terms are applied to the invoice.
    • A due date is required whenever an amount is due (PINT AE rule IBR-127-AE): without it, validation shows an error. Credit notes and fully prepaid invoices (amount due 0) may leave it empty.
    • A deemed supply has no payment, so ticking that transaction type clears and locks the due date, the terms preset and the payment methods; the reason is shown under the fields. Unticking it brings them back. Such an invoice shows Nothing due instead of Unpaid and is never overdue. See Paid in advance, rounding and amount due.
    • For a bank transfer without an IBAN on the invoice or in Settings, validation warns that the account number is recommended (BT-84).
    • Save reusable payment terms as text presets under Settings → Documents → Text presets.
    • Overdue means the due date has passed and the invoice is issued and not fully paid. Drafts, rejected invoices, credit notes and archived documents are never overdue.
    • Reminder levels and fees are defined in Settings → Reminders; the Payment reminders card appears on the invoice once it is overdue.
