Understand validation errors (PINT AE business terms)
Read the PINT AE validation report, tell errors from warnings, and fix the most common business-term issues.
Before submission an invoice must pass Alya Books's PINT AE checks. Each finding names the business term (BT) or group (BG) from the PINT AE data dictionary.
- Click Validate & save (or Create on a new invoice).
- The PINT AE validation report opens above the paper. Problems are listed first, errors (red) before warnings (amber); passed checks are hidden until you click Show Passed. Groups with errors are open, groups with only warnings are collapsed. Fields with findings are outlined on the paper.
- Use the action under each problem:
- Fix now → for your company data (name, TRN, address, Peppol ID): opens a Company details side panel inside the editor. Saving it runs the check again without leaving the invoice.
- Go to field → for fields on the invoice, including the payment methods and their IBAN: scrolls to the field and highlights it.
- Open contacts → for buyer data such as the buyer TRN.
- Fix in Settings → appears only where no side panel is available; it opens Settings in a new tab on the right tab with the field highlighted.
- Click the rule code itself (for example IBR-144-AE) to open it in PINT AE Reference with its explanation in plain English or Arabic. A business-term code such as BT-48 opens that field on the Fields tab.
- You can also click BT/BG field search and type the code (for example
BT-48) to jump to a field; hidden optional fields are switched on automatically. - Fix the findings and validate again. When no errors remain the status becomes Validated and Submit to Taxilla is available.
Errors block submission. Warnings do not, but they often become rejections at Taxilla or the FTA, so fix them where you can.
| Rule | Message | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| BT-1, BT-2 | Number or issue date missing | Fill the meta block |
| BT-31 | Seller TRN missing or not 15 digits | Fix now → (Company details panel) |
| IBR-150-AE, IBR-172-AE | Seller trade licence number or its licensing authority missing | Fix now → (Company details panel) |
| BT-35, BT-37, BT-40 | Seller street, city or country missing | Fix now → (Company details panel) |
| IBR-159-AE | Exchange rate missing on an invoice in another currency | Alya Books fills in the UAE Central Bank rate for the date of supply. Enter the rate next to the currency only when no Central Bank rate is found: AED for 1 unit of the invoice currency |
| IBR-002-AE | Exchange rate has more than 6 decimals | Shorten the rate |
| BTAE-04 | USD rate far from the 3.6725 peg (warning) | Check that you entered AED per 1 USD, not the reverse |
| BT-44 | Buyer name missing | Pick a contact |
| BT-48 | Buyer TRN missing (warning) or not 15 digits (error) | Open contacts → and correct the contact. A customer whose address is outside the UAE states its own country's VAT number instead, in any format |
| PROVIDER | A payment method that PINT AE allows but Taxilla does not accept yet (Z01 to Z08) | Choose another payment method, or ask Alya Books support to switch on all official codes |
| BT-121 | Exemption reason is not one of the UAE codes | Pick the reason from the list on the exempt line |
| BT-25 | Preceding invoice reference missing on a note | Start the note from the original invoice |
| BT-129, BT-146, BT-153 | Quantity, price or description on a line, or a description longer than 1000 characters | Fix the line |
| BT-130 | Unit code not a UN/ECE code (warning) | Choose a unit from the list |
| BT-152 | VAT rate does not match the category | Standard is 5 %; zero rated and exempt are 0 %. The same goes for a discount or charge in the standard category (IBR-190-AE) |
| BT-97, BT-104 | A discount or charge below the totals has no reason | Type a reason or pick a reason code on the discount or charge |
| IBR-147-AE | Line amount does not match quantity × price as the e-invoice states them | The e-invoice carries the unit price to 2 decimals and the quantity to 3. Round the price or the quantity, or price a larger unit (for example per 100) |
| IBR-191-AE | No payment method on an invoice | Add one under Payment methods |
| IBR-192-AE | Credit transfer without an account (IBAN) | Add an IBAN in Settings → Bank details or on the payment method |
| IBAN | IBAN on a payment method has a wrong length, format or check digits | Go to field → and correct the IBAN |
| BIC | SWIFT/BIC is not 8 or 11 characters, or its country code is wrong | Correct the BIC |
| IBR-158-AE | Credit note reason missing | Choose the Credit note reason (BTAE-03) in the correction panel |
| BT-106, BT-110, BT-112 | Totals do not match the lines | Re-save; the editor recalculates |
Good to know:
- Seller findings are stored in your organization, not on the invoice; Fix now → changes them for all future documents.
- Invoices in another currency than AED also state VAT and the total in AED, at the exchange rate. Alya Books fills in the UAE Central Bank rate for the date of supply; see Invoice in another currency. The editor shows both under the totals, and the PDF and the e-invoice carry them.
- Credit and debit notes get extra correction checks (issued original, same currency, remaining creditable amount).
- Batch Validate on Invoices validates several drafts at once; the With errors chip lists invoices with saved errors.
- Submit to Taxilla runs the checks once more on the server. If your company details or the customer changed after validation and the invoice no longer passes, it is not sent: it returns to Draft with the findings, ready to correct and validate again.
- Compliance runs the same checks over all invoices; PINT AE Reference explains every validation rule and lists every business term, code list and transaction type.
